Fanny Rifflet

Biography

Fanny Rifflet (1994) is graduated in Art History and Archaeology, with a specialization in musicology from the University of Liège. This degree was preceded by three years of piano at the Institut supérieur de musique et de pédagogie (IMEP) in Namur and at the Royal Conservatory of Mons. Her studies at the University allowed her to specialize in the history of Belgian music from the 19th and 20th centuries. Her research work on the Belgian pianist and composer Charles Scharrès was awarded the 2022 annual prize of the Royal Academy of Belgium in History and Criticism. In 2021, she became a Board Member of the ancient music festival Les Nuits de Septembre and in 2022, President of the Société liégeoise de Musicologie. At the same time, she writes discography reviews for the French music magazine Diapason. She is currently involved in promoting musical heritage and composers from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation through the non-profit association Musique en Wallonie, a record label that brings together musicologists, researchers and professionals from the Belgian French-speaking musical world. Since 2023, she has also held a position as a Professor of Music Encyclopedia at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
