Annie Lavoisier shares her time between her career as a musician and her calling as a teacher.
She is solo harpist at the Belgian National Orchestra since 1984, a member of the chamber music ensemble Oxalys since 1996 and the contemporary music ensemble Ictus since 1997.
Partaker of the great tradition of the French school of harp music, Annie Lavoisier started her studies in the musical section at the Conservatoire National de Reims , her native town, at the age of six. Her teachers were Thérèse Hansen and Brigitte Sylvestre.
She studied in Paris with Francis Pierre who introduced her to the contemporary orchestra repertoire.
Her meeting with the great master Pierre Jamet, who was 87, a contemporary of Claude Debussy was to be an important moment in her career.
Annie Lavoisier is a laureate of major international competitions: M. A Cazzala de Gargilesse, Israel, Munich, and Geneva.
In addition, she has also received the Special Prize for the best interpretation of contemporary works.
In 1987, she created the harp class at the Lemmensinstituut at Leuven and taught there until 1994.
During her numerous tours with Oxalys and Ictus, she has presented to the public lesser-known works of the repertoire with harp.
She collaborates with today’s composers and takes part in numerous creations (Lindberg, Francesconi, Harvey, Kissine, Mantovani, Levinas...).
Passionate about singing and choral music, she has adapted for the harp numerous melodies and lieder and accompanies different choirs.
Her interest in making the link between the pedal harp and the ancient harp brought her in 2008 to the triple harp or “Arpa doppia”. She explores the repertoire for lute and harpsichord from Girolamo Frescobaldi to John-Sebastian Bach.
In her desire for the synergy of all the arts, she has composed and interpreted music for short animation films, documentaries and puppet shows.
She creates poetic interludes that bring together theatre, clowns and music.
Sensitive to the transmission of knowledge, she is very active in the pedagogical field. She is interested in the different methods for the awareness of the body (Feldenkreis, Rességuier, Eurythmy, Yoga...) and incorporates them in her teaching.
Annie Lavoisier teaches the harp at the Brussels Royal Conservatory of Music since 2005.
Having explored numerous musical and artistic fields, she wishes to hand on her eclectic experience to her students.
