Carlota Ingrid García cannot remember a time in her life without music; born in Madrid in 1983, she began her musical adventure at the age of six. Her passion for the flute eventually took her to the Conservatorio Superior de Salamanca, Folkwang Hochschule Essen and finally the Royal College of Music in London, where she was tutored by the flute soloist of the London Symphony Orchestra, Jaime Martín, and by Stewart MacIlwham, the piccolo soloist of the London Philharmonic.
After completing her flute and piccolo studies with highest honours, she worked from 2007 until 2013 as the flute co-soloist and piccolo soloist in various symphonic orchestras among which the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra.
Her insatiable passion for music led her to delve into early musicpractice, and she studied a master's degree in the traverso andclassical flutes at the Consertvatoire royal de Bruxelles under Jan de Winne, founding member of the ensemble "Il Gardellino".
Since finishing this degree with great distinction she has remained in Brussels where she focuses on early music and chamber music. In 2017, she won the "York Early Music International Young Artists' Competition" with her ensemble, BarrocoTout. As well as continuing to work with the group, she plays with orchestras and chamber music groups like L’Arpegiatta, Il Gardellino, BachPlus, Les Agrements, Apotheosis, Sileti Venti, Lauda Música and the Hildebrandt Consort, amongst others.
In 2019 BarrocoTout published its first LP, La Sonate Égarée (Linn Records - Outhere). The record received excellent reviews and was chosen as the "Editor's Choice" in Gramophone Magazine. Carlota has also recorded for Glossa with Filippo Mineccia and The New Baroque Times ensemble.
Since 2018, Carlota has been teaching the traverso and historical interpretation at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles during seminars aimed at modern flutists.
