Arvindan Thekkadath

Biography

Arvindan Thekkadath is an Indo-Franco-Canadian pianist, born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He moved to Paris to study at the École Normale de Musique de Paris under the guidance of Professors Nelson Delle-Vigne and Marian Rybicki, thanks to the "Alfred Roussel" scholarship. He later completed his studies with Daniel Blumenthal at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels as well as completing various pedagogical studies. At the end of his studies, jury member Cyprien Katsaris strongly encouraged him to pursue a career in performance and pedagogy.

His training has been enriched by studying with internationally renowned pianists such as Maria João Pires, Eliso Virsaladze, Jerome Lowenthal, Michel Beroff, Philippe Entremont, and Jean-Philippe Collard.

Passionate about both performance and the academics disciplines, Thekkadath is currently a Professor of English at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and artistic director for several recording projects. He is also pursuing a Ph.D. in performance titled “A Critical Analysis of the Russian and French Piano Schools in the Era of Globalization.”

In addition to being an Artist-in-Residence at the Bell’Arte Foundation and the "International Certificate for Piano Artists" program, Thekkadath has been a guest of numerous prestigious venues and festivals, including: La Salle Cortot, the Seine Musicale, Zelazowa Wola and the Chopin Institute in Poland, the Midi-Minimes Festival, the Chopin Festival in Mallorca, the Royal Conservatory Hall in Brussels, the Fondation Hellénique in Paris, Claude Debussy’s Home, the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Palm Beach University in Florida, the Scriabin Museum in Moscow, and the Conservatory of Seville. He is also invited to teach in masterclasses and to participate as a jury member in various competitions.
