János Palojay's piano playing is unique in its balance of analytical thinking and instinct. In recognition of his talent, Andras Schiff chose him as one of the soloists for the 2017/2018 Building Bridges European concert series. His international career was launched in 2012 with a 3rd place at the Paloma O'Shea Piano Competition in Santander. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has given concerts in Europe's most prestigious concert halls, including Müpa Budapest, the Liszt Academy, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, the Salle Cortot in Paris, theAuditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid and L'Auditori
in Barcelona. He made his US debut as a soloist in the Gilmore Foundation's Rising Stars series, where he performed at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco and Carnegie Hall in New York.
At the Mozarteum in Salzburg, he studied with Imre Rohmann, and then perfected his skills with Kirill Gerstein at the Stuttgart College of Music. He also studied with Dmitri Bashkirov and Ferenc Rados at masterclasses. Chamber music plays an important part in János Palojtay's life, and he was invited by Mitsuko Uchida to be a guest at the Marlboro Music Festival in the summers of 2018 and '19, and a regular performer at Prussia Cove Open Chamber Music, among other prestigious festivals. Under the baton of Christopher Hogwood, Gergely Vajda, Gergely Madaras and Zsolt Hamar, he has worked as a soloist with some of the most prominent orchestras in Hungary. As a multifaceted performer, he is close to Kurtág's music, contemporary and jazz improvisations, and has broadened his experience as an orchestra member with the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Iván Fischer.
