About the event
William Christie, harpsichordist, conductor, musicologist and founder of Les Arts Florissants, makes an appearance as part of the ‘Rendez-vous après la pause’ series. He joins forces with violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte to bring the work of Jean-Baptiste Senaillé out of oblivion. The composer Leclair is also in the spotlight. Leclair and Senaillé were in a sense the Paganinis of eighteenth-century France. Their sonatas are both virtuosic and poetic, always formidably rhythmic and danceable. The meeting of two artists separated by many years is a pure miracle of musical harmony, a true moment of grace’. But that's not all. The concert will be enriched by a contribution from the famous French writer Erik Orsenna. It's not just the music that plays a key role in this concert, it's also the language that gives it a dynamic essence.
