Journées de la curiosité

Now in its fourth year, the "Journées de la curiosité" is an annual presentation of students’ final year work, focusing this year on research that leads to a concrete artistic result: interdepartmental artistic projects, compositions, critical editions and transcriptions. It will illustrate the liveliness of cross-disciplinary research between the different artistic disciplines taught at the Conservatoire. During these Journées de la curiosité, you can also discover our doctoral students at 3 exceptional concerts linked to their thesis work in Art and Art Sciences.

In the library of Eugène Ysaÿe: perspectives from a violinist-researcher

The music library of Eugène Ysaÿe (1858-1931), a treasure trove of scores preserved in Belgium and the United States, offers a fascinating insight into the musical legacy of this great Belgian violinist and composer. This library contains not only the scores of Ysaÿe's original works and adaptations, but also his personal copies of editions of works by other composers, often rich in precious dedications and annotations. Joanna Staruch-Smolec offers a reading of these scores, enriched by her parallel study of Ysaÿe's recordings and the organological elements specific to his period.
