Erik Satie and the six
Georges Auric, Louis Durey, Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc and Germaine Tailleferre came to the forefront of the Parisian artistic scene just after the First World War. These "Six" were mentored by Erik Satie, an atypical musician who prefigured Dadaism, and supported by Jean Cocteau, their unofficial agent. They breathed new life into Paris and marked the effervescent period of the Roaring Twenties when everything seemed possible.
