ACTIVE CONFERENCE
Discover the Korean transverse flute Daegeum (accompanied by the Changgu). Taehyeon Kim, Daegeum and Taejoung Kim, Changgu, two members of the prestigious Seoul National Gugak Center. Speaker, Baudouin de Jaer (composer)
After welcoming Joonyoung Kim in November 2022 on the Geomungo (the low Korean zither with six strings played with a plectrum), we will be discovering the Daegeum, the Korean bamboo transverse flute. This six-hole flute has an extra hole covered with a membrane that produces the magnificent and unique kazoo effect. The Daegeum will be accompanied by the Changgu (double-skinned percussion instrument), the hourglass-shaped Korean percussion instrument. During the lecture, the audience is invited to collectively compose a short piece that will be played afterwards.
MINI CONCERT
The programme includes a Sanjo of traditional Korean music, as well as more contemporary works.
A co-production of the Korean Cultural Centre in Brussels, the Seoul National Gugak Center, the production office of the Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Bruxelles, NOODIK productions, with the support of the Maison de la création Centre Culturel de Bruxelles Nord and the Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles.
Daegeum will be made available to the flautists. Composition classes are invited to compose a short piece for the Daegeum.
