Gender stereotypes: becoming aware of the invisible glasses we wear when we look at others
Stereotypes are defined as socially shared beliefs (positive or negative) about the characteristics and behaviour of members of a particular social group. Closely, but not exclusively, related to prejudice and discrimination, we most often base our interactions with others on stereotypical perceptions. In this conference we will discuss the specificities of gender stereotypes. How do these stereotypes impact on the way we look at and judge others? How do they contribute to the structuring of many power relations in the professional and extra-professional sphere?
