This concert combines two testimonies by artists detained in Nazi camps during the Second World War. The Quartet for the End of Time was composed by Messiaen in 1941 while he was detained in the Stalag VIII-A prison camp in Görlitz, while Si c'est un homme is Primo Levi's autobiographical account of his imprisonment in Auschwitz.
