Brussels, the Sainte-Gudule fund and its instruments

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Early Music Department.

February 1 2024 12:30

What was the use of instruments from the violin family in Brussels and the resulting sound image at the beginning of the 18th century?  This question is explored during this concert-conference devoted to the Sainte-Gudule collection and the instruments of the violin family associated with it. Works from this collection, composed by Kapellmeisters Pietro Antonio and Joseph-Hector Fiocco and by Pierre Hercule Bréhy, will be played by students from the Early Music department on copies of instruments held at the MIM. Anne-Emmanuelle Ceulemans, Manon Fauconnier and Mirte Maes will provide organological commentary for this concert-conference.
