Benoît Menut, concert with commentary

This concert with commentary is a unique opportunity to meet a composer who uniquely combines tradition and modernity.

November 8 2023 12:30

Benoît Menut's music, lyrical and structured, does not shy away from stylistic encounters. He sees his art as "energy in sound carried by meaning". His works have been performed at various festivals and musical seasons (Les Flâneries Musicales de Reims, the Musée d'Orsay, La Chaise-Dieu, Opéra de Rennes, Opéra de Saint-Étienne, Biennale d'artvocal de la cité de la musique, Festival contemporain de Vienne, Festival de chœur d'Arezzo...). Winner of the SACEM Grand Prix for symphonic music and the Francis and Mica Salabert Foundation Prize (2014), he was associated with the Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne from 2014 to 2018, for which he composed, among other works, the "Symphony for a Feather", premiered at the Rennes Opera and the Théâtre de Cornouaille in December 2016. The following year, he wrote his first opera, "Fando et Lis", commissioned by the Opéra de Saint-Etienne and based on the play by Fernando Arrabal.
