Anniversary concert

Presented at the Cathedral of Sts Michel and Gudule, this event opens the "Festivita" festival.

February 10 2024 11:00

In partnership with the FestiVita early music festival, the early music department is pulling out all the stops to celebrate its 20th anniversary. A unique opportunity to celebrate with music!
The magnificent cathedral of Saint-Michel-et-Gudule will resound to the music heard there in the 17th and 18th centuries, with 3 orchestras made up of many of the department's teachers, students and alumni.
The great organs conducted by Bernard Foccroulle will dialogue with the various consorts in the spirit of the Cori Spezzati. They will perform music by early 17th-century composers such as Peter Cornet, John Bull, Peter Philips, Pedro Ruimonte and Nicolaus à Kempis, conducted by Nicolas Achten. The second part of the concert is devoted to the music of 18th-century choirmasters Joseph-Hector Fiocco, Ignace Vitzthumb and Charles-Joseph van Helmont. The concert closes with an impressive Gloria for double choir and double chorus by Charles-Joseph van Helmont, conducted by Guy Van Waas.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to hear this music "in situ", in the magnificent setting where it was conceived, composed, played and listened to...and certainly never played again since!
