The Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles offers Bachelors and Masters courses Theatre and Arts of Speech. The Bachelors course consists of three years, while the Masters lasts one year.
The course in "Interpretation and Stage skills", which is the main module of the course, develops the students' ability in the art of contemporary spoken word, with reference to the full diversity of the field.
In the bachelors course, the student is confronted with different types of theatrical performance, gaining an awareness of the possible different aesthetics, rapport with the public, with texts from theatre or other literary sources, drawing on both contemporary and classical repertoire, ranging from solo stage performance to working on chorus skills.
The course offers students comprehensive training in artistic, practical and theoretical skills alongside general and cultural skills: including acting techniques, creativity, dramaturgical awareness and autonomy. Starting from the third year, the course is organised into modules so students can learn specialist techniques to enlarge their range of skills: cinema, casting, writing, dance, poetic montage, puppetry... In addition to group and individual classes, each year students participate in numerous projects organised by the department.
Each student is invited to find their path, develop their individual voice, and make links between the artistic, practical and theoretical spheres.
Students can then build on this solid foundation during the Masters programme, where they are guided to develop their artistic autonomy, culminating in the realisation of a personal artistic project at the end of their studies. In this final cycle, students complete an internship in the theatre world in order to help them make direct contacts linked to the professional world. Students regularly take part in ambitious projects, thanks to the special and varied opportunities for collaboration within the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles.
