The generic term "chamber music" includes collective disciplines in a range of formats, including church music. One of the objectives here is to give students as many tools as possible to learn to listen within a group, and these are developed through regular practice and public performances.
Every year, certains projects allow students to deepen their understanding of a particular theme, composer, period or esthetic. The instruments and concert venues are chosen according to the chosen theme (including collaboration with the Musical Instruments Museum, concerts in churches...). In addition, the chamber music class has worked for a number of years in close collaboration with early music festivals with first-rate festivals (Automne Musical de Spa, Mubafa, Embaroquement immédiat...), under the name "Collegium Musicum". This collaboration gives students the chance to come face to face with real concert situations and helps their future integration into professional life.
The chamber music class also collaborates with other teachers from the Early Music department. It is also frequently involved in collaborations with other departments of the Conservatoire (singing, theatre, jazz...).
