Persian coloratura soprano Shirin Asgari fell into art and music early in her childhood, enthusiastically learning the violin, dancing and choreographing.
She studied singing with KS. Rohangiz Yachmi as well as earning a Bachelors degree in 2004 from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna under the tutelage of Prof Adelheid Hornich. She then completed her Master's degree (with distinction) at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz in 2008 under Joanna Borowska.
After her Graduation, Shirin attended Master classes with Paul Esswood, Gabriele Lechner and Thomas Tomaschke. In 2006 Shirin was granted a scholarship of the American Institute “AIMS” in Graz.
Her extensive repertoire has resulted in concerts and opera projects in Austria, England, Germany, France, Japan and Canada and the USA. Among her many performances as an Opera Principal, Shirin has starred as The Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), Olympia (Hoffmanns Erzähliungen), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Tonina (Prima La Musica), Blondchen, Constance (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) and Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos).
Between 2008 and 2011 she played Madame Herz (Der Schauspieldirektor), where she worked with director Otto Schenk. Her passion for twentieth century repertoire has led her to major national and international festivals such as “Steirischer Herbst”, “Die andere Saite” and the “Holland Festival” in Amsterdam.
In numerous concert performances with secular, sacred and contemporary music, Shirin always inspires her audience. As a guest soloist, she joined the Grazer Oper and performed several international concerts with the Klangforum Wien between 2014 and 2015. Recently, Shirin Asgari appeared as soloist at the “Styriarte” festival in Graz and in Carmina Burana at the open-air concert “Klassik unter Sternen” in Schloss Kirchstetten.
In addition, Shirin Asgari is a member of the soprano trio “Sedonia”, which she started in 2008 with her sister and her cousin. In 2015, they released their first CD in collaboration with Universal Music Austria, recording their interpretations of well known "James Bond" themes. The trio was featured in numerous ORF television broadcasts (Licht ins Dunkel Starnacht in der Wachau, Heute leben). In March 2016 the three singers followed an invitation from Manoto TV in London to present their new single.
